Inside, the basilica itself you can stand in the main atrium, looking up at the largest dome in the world. The Most Holy Beijing Imperial Temple - The Temple of Heaven

This is the Hall of Prayer for good harvest. It features three levels of round roofs, whose proportions decrease as the height  increases. And it comes to about 40 meters above ground. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is in fact a gigantic symbolic construction, because its foundation features a gigantic squared area. Above the foundation rises a three-tiered marble base, which has a decreasing rounded shape,  while everything is topped by the rounded construction of the temple. Just remember  the symbolic meaning of the squares and the circles, and you will get a clear vision about the scale of this "symbolic meaning". Another striking feature of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is its lush scenic decoration, which features reddish hues, wooden facades and a multitude of doors. If you enter inside the temple you will also realize that the symbolic meanings are just about to starts. There are four altars with twelve pillars, which represent the four seasons and respectively the twelve months. Then, continue your exploration to the south, where is situated a really long alluring alley - the Imperial Walkway.



It connects all the three groups of main temples, which means some hundreds of meters of a long scenic walkway. It also offers a unique illusion that you are walking along a corridor in a huge natural museum, because this walkways is edged by tall green trees and only the blue sky is the limit. A few minutes or hours later - you will get in front the gate to the Imperial Vault of Heaven. It is a beautiful replica of the Hall of Prayer, but it is quite more different. First, there is only one level of round marble base, as well as only one level of a rounded roof. Second, the Imperial Vault of Heaven and its compound stand over a huge circular foundation, which also features a couple of surrounding buildings with splendid historical architectures. The bright reddish nuances are everywhere and they create some really inspiring sensations. But the most impressive sensation is created by a nearly 6 meters tall rounded wall and the thought that once it provided an inspiring echo during the worshipers' prays.



A little bit to the south stretches the Circular Mound Altar which represents the fusion of Earth and Heaven through a really breathtaking way. There are only three levels of rounded marble terraces and series of steep stairs lead to the top of the highest terrace. From there, you can take advantage of a truly inspiring panoramic vista, as well as feel like you are in the center of the world. It's true, just because the three rounded  terraces depict the Man, Earth and Heaven, while everything stands over a gigantic platform with a squared shape. The panoramic vistas can seduce you to take a photo after a photo, especially at sunset, when you are high above the center of the world and everything around is magically bathed in the golden glow of the sun's rays. Overall, only the three major landmarks in the Temple of Heaven offer a really fabulous experience that you will never forget, but there are also plenty of other interesting sights to enjoy.



The Palace of Abstinence is the greatest of them and it is located at the very western side of the temple complex. The main purpose of the palace was as а point for holy procedures before prays for good harvest. Only a short walk trip around the ancient constructions and facades is enough to feel the mystical atmosphere of the palace, as well as enjoy the game of colours, shapes and textures. And everything is perfectly blended with the scenic shapes of the nature.
