- Major Fire Accident at OmSakthi Fireworks Factory at Sivakasi today September 5 2012 (Wednesday)

- 53 People reportedly killed. Fire experts say the intensity of fire is very severe, that no trapped inside the factory would remain alive

- 50 people who were gazing at fire accident suffered burn injuries and are being taken to Hospital.

- Still not sure how many were inside factory. Estimate say, around 300 workers were supposed to work in the shift. 150 People have evacuated from the area around factory

- All the 48 rooms in the factory completely burnt down due to explosion of fire crackers

- Tamilnadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha has asked Ministers O Paneerselva, Natham Viswanatham, Munusamy, Vaithilingam to rush to the spot immediately. CM will visit the area tomorrow.

- The fire started at Chemical Storage unit of the factory and charred down the entire factory

- Fire has spread to Godown some 200 feet away from Factory. New explosions are being heard

- 3 People admitted to Government Hospital at Sivagasi succumbed to injuries. Severely Injured are shifted to Madurai Rajaji Hospital

- The entire Mudalipetti village where the factory is situated, is looking like a war zone.

- Police are cautious in entering the accident zone as more explosion can happen

- It must be noted that Diwali season is approaching, hence more explosives might be manufactured
