How Great Is God’s Love

Have you ever thought about the great love of our mighty God? Let us discuss on the great love of our Creator.

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all- how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” – Romans 8:32

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” – 1 John 4:8-10

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

So from the above verses, we are aware of the great love of Him for us. How we can show our Love to Him?

“This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” – 1 John 5:3-5

“We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.” – 1 John 4:19-21

“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” – Luke 6:36

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 7:12

“And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” – Matthew 5:47-48

“The entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Galatians 5:14

“For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” – Matthew 6:14

From all these, we see that we should love each other just as God loved us for in loving them we are actually loving Him. Do good things to all. Never harm or cheat anyone. When you do all these, you are thanking God for the abundant love He has shown.

Ways To Make A Bad Day Better

They are inevitable. Bad days happen to everyone. But, there are things you can do to make them better. Here are a few…

1. Play with kids.

I dare you.

2. Give someone a compliment.

Not a fake one, but take the time to see something that someone else is doing well.

3. Sing in your car.

And sing as loud as you can. Have you ever noticed how hard it is to frown while you are singing?

4. Read Philippians 4.

And while you are at it, just think about where Paul was while he was writing it.

5. Bake your favorite kind of cookies.

Then eat some.

6. Count your blessings.

I mean it. Start a list of all the things you are thankful for. Write until you can’t write anymore. Staple it to the wall.

7. Watch people.

Go find a crowded public area, sit down and watch. Allow yourself to wonder what he ate for breakfast, or what her name is, or where he bought that shirt.

8. Do something for someone you love.

Do the dishes for your wife, take your neice out for ice cream, take your mom to Starbucks for a coffee.

9. Pray.

It’s #9 because you expected it to be #1. What could be more encouraging that talking to the Creator of the universe?

10. Think of the most encouraging person you know and call them.

But don’t complain. Refrain from telling them how bad your day is and focus on making their day better.

11. Write a letter.

A good old-fashioned paper and ink letter. Bonus: write it to someone who has impacted your life and thank them and let them know how much you appreciate their role/impact in your life.

12. Remember the truth.

That God causes all things to work together for GOOD (Romans 8:28)

What is Forgiveness – C.S. Lewis

Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea until they have something to forgive, as we had during the war. And then to mention the subject at all is to be greeted with howls of anger. It is not that people think this too high and difficult a virtue: it is that they think it hateful and contemptible. “That sort of talk makes them sick,” they say. And half of you already want to ask me, “I wonder how’d you feel about forgiving the Gestapo if you were a Pole or a Jew?”

So do I. I wonder very much. Just as when Christianity tells me that I must not deny my religion even to save myself from death by torture, 1 wonder very much what 1 should do when it came to the point. I am not trying to tell you … what I could do–I can do precious little–I am telling you what Christianity is. I did not invent it. And there, right in the middle of it, I find “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those that sill against us.” There is no slightest suggestion that we are offered forgiveness on any other terms. It is made perfectly clear that if we do not forgive we shall not be forgiven. There are no two ways about it. What are we to do?

It is going to be hard enough, anyway, but I think there are two things we can do to make it easier. When you start mathematics you do not begin with calculus; you begin with simple addition. In the same way, if we really want (but all depends on really wanting) to learn how to forgive, perhaps we had better start with something easier than the Gestapo. One might start with forgiving one’s husband or wife, or parents or children, or the nearest N.C.O., for something they have done or said in the last week. That will probably keep us busy for the moment. And secondly, we might try to understand exactly what loving your neighbor as yourself means. I have to love him as I love myself. Well, how exactly do I love myself!

Now that I come to think of it, I have not exactly got a feeling of fondness or affection for myself, and I do not even always enjoy my own society. So apparently “Love your neighbor” does not mean “feel fond of him” or “find him attractive.” I ought to have seen that before, because of course, you cannot feel fond of a person by trying. Do 1 think well of myself, think myself a nice chap? Well, I am afraid I sometimes do (and those are, no doubt, my worst moments) but that is not why I love myself. In fact it is the other way round: my self-love makes me think myself nice, but thinking myself nice is not why I love myself. So loving my enemies does not apparently mean thinking them nice either. That is an enormous relief. For a good many people imagine that forgiving your enemies means making out that they are really not such bad fellows after all, when it is quite plain that they are. Go a step further. In my most clear-sighted moments not only do I not think myself a nice man, but I know that I am a very nasty one. I can at look some of the things I have done with loathing and horror. So apparently I am allowed to loathe and hate some of the things my enemies do. Now that I come to think of it, I remember Christian teachers telling me long ago that I must hate a bad man’s actions, but not hate the bad man: or as they would say, hate the sin but not the sinner.

For a long time I used to think this is a silly, straw-splitting distinction: how could you hate what a man did and not hate the man? But years later it occurred to me that there was one man to whom I had been doing this all my life–namely myself. However much I might dislike my own cowardice or conceit or greed, I went on loving myself. There had never been the slightest difficulty about it. In fact, the very reason why I hated the things was that I loved the man. Just because I loved myself was sorry to find that I was the sort of man who did those things.

Consequently Christianity does not want us to reduce by one atom the hatred we feel for cruelty and treachery. We ought to hate them. Not one word of what we have said about them needs to be unsaid. But it does want us to hate them in the same way in which we hate things in ourselves: being sorry that the man should have done such things, and hoping if it is anyway possible, that somehow, sometime, somewhere, he can be cured and made human again.

Don’t let your worries get the best of you. Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.

Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited until you try to sit in their pews.

Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers.

It is easier to preach ten sermons than it is to live one.

The good Lord didn’t create anything without a purpose, but mosquitoes come close.

When you get to your wit’s end, you’ll find God lives there.

People are funny. They want the front of the bus, the middle of the road, and the back of the church.

Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever.

Quit griping about your church. If it was perfect, you couldn’t belong.

If the church wants a better pastor, it only needs to pray for the one it has.

God himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead, so why should you?

Some minds are like concrete – thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.

Peace starts with a smile.

I don’t know why some people change churches. What difference does it make which one you stay home from?

A lot of church members who are singing “Standing On The Promises” are just sitting on the premises.

We were called to be witnesses, not lawyers or judges.

Be ye fishers of men. You catch them. He’ll clean them.

Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.

Don’t put a question mark where God put a period.

Don’t wait for 6 strong men to take you to church.

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called.

God grades on the cross, not the curve.

God loves everyone, but probably prefers “fruits of the spirit” over “religious nuts!”

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

He who angers you controls you.

If God is your copilot, swap seats.

Prayer: don’t give God instructions, just report for duty!

The task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us.

The will of God will never take you to where the grace of God will not protect you.

We don’t change the message. The message changes us.

You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to discourage him.

The best mathematical equation I have ever seen: 1 cross + 3 nails = 4given.

Virus Warning

VIRUS WARNING – This one’s for real! Send it to everyone you know! Alert! This is a notice to inform you of THE CURSE. The most devastating catastrophe known to humanity.

Infection status: Surprise Your system has already been infected!! (This CURSE was downloaded by Adam and Eve and we all are born into it.)

Damage: Every component of your life is affected. We have been brought under the wrath of God (Ephesians 2:3); made liable to all miseries in this life, to death itself, and even to the pains of hell forever! (Romans 6:23; Matthew 25:41)

Remedy: The only remedy is complete forensic reconfiguration of all component parts. This is called Justification. (Ephesians 1:7; 2 Corinthians 5:21) This is followed by a radical lifetime software purge called Sanctification. (2 Thessalonians 3:13; Ephesians 4:24) The only means of rescue from the power and results of THE CURSE is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12)

Cost: You cannot purchase this remedy. It is not so simple. The cost is the eternal wrath of God.

Access: You may acquire justification free of charge. The price was already paid on the cross of Christ. But you must beg for it on your knees. (Many perish maintaining their “dignity,” i.e. pride) “Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.”(Romans 5:1,2)

For more information and validation, consult the only User’s Manual – The Holy Bible.

WARNING – THIS IS NOT A HOAX. Please do not disregard this warning. Do not delay! The CURSE impairs logical functions, input and output, processing and communication, linkup with other systems, and corrupts all disks. The final result will be a total crash. The time of the crash cannot be ascertained, but the fate is worse than mere termination.

Jesus Christ is the Lord of all things, every system, every user… and is your only hope. The good news is that he is available by 24 hour access. No hardware necessary. Simply cry out to him to take your sin and give you his righteousness. Understanding your plight, you have no options: The buttons are not OK or CANCEL. They are REPENT or PERISH.

“Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved”

The New Meaning to All The Alphabets

Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of “Camp Complaining”
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To “thank” is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We’ll run the race with gratitude
Xalting God most high
Yes, there’ll be good times and yes some will be bad, but . . .
Zion waits in glory . . . where none are ever sad!

Proof of Existence Of God

There is a conscience in man; therefore there is a God in heaven.

Every effect has a cause; there cannot be an infinite regress of finite causes; therefore, there must be an uncaused cause or necessary being; this being is God (The Cosmological Argument, proponents- Aquinas).

There is observable order or design in the world that cannot be attributed to the object itself; this observable order argues for an intelligent being who established this order; this being is God (The Teleological Argument, proponents- Aquinas).

All men possess a moral impulse or categorical (moral) imperative. Since this morality is not always rewarded in this life, there must be some basis or reason for moral behavior that is beyond this life. This implies the existence of immorality, ultimate judgment, and a God who establishes and supports morality by rewarding good and punishing evil (The Anthropological (Moral) Argument, proponents- Kant).

Man has an idea of an infinite and perfect being. Existence is a necessary part of perfection. (Therefore) an infinite and perfect being exists, since the very concept of perfection requires existence (The Ontological Argument, proponents- Anselm).

Every normal person is born with the idea of God implanted in his mind, though it is suppressed in unrighteousness (Rom. 1:18). As the child grows into adulthood, this idea becomes clearer. Critical experiences in the course of life may make this idea come alive (The Argument that God is an Innate Idea, proponents- Augustine, C. Hodge, Calvin).

All people believe that something is true. If God is the God of truth and the true God, then God is truth. This Truth (capital T) is the context for all other truth. Therefore the existence of truth implies the existence of Truth, which implies the existence of God (The Argument from Truth, proponents- Augustine, A. Strong).

Man is restless. He has a vague longing for blessedness. This longing was given by God, for man is restless until he rests in God. The presence of this longing is an indirect proof of God existence (The Argument from Blessedness, proponents- Augustine, Aquinas).

The Cross Fully Explained

See the picture of the CROSS. We get a clear idea of the sufferings of Jesus on the cross and why He did that.

Read the text forming the body of Christ in the above picture.

We Christians Should Do Things As Christ Does

According to the Barna Research Group, 75 percent of Americans believe the Bible teaches that “God helps those who help themselves.”

Try again, America. The actual author of that quotation is Benjamin Franklin. Feel free to check your Bibles, but I am fairly certain you will not find a gospel according to Benjamin Franklin.

The overwhelming majority of the U.S. citizens self-identify as Christians. That is, they profess a belief in Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah spoken of in the Hebrew Scriptures. Maybe I am jumping out on a limb here, but I would also assume these same people would agree that Jesus Christ is the ultimate model for leading a Christian life. With that in mind, please consider the following few examples of problems in this Christian-majority nation:

Taxes

Year in and year out, we are constantly arguing about the amount of taxes each person and social class should be made to pay and even the validity of government taxation. While about 18 percent of all children in the United States live in poverty (y’know … hungry, without proper health care, etc.), the Washington bigwigs are arguing over whether or not to make the Bush tax cuts permanent. Now, I am all for people enjoying the money they earn, but when the decision comes down to feeding hungry kids or giving a wealthy person a larger check so that he or she can buy a bigger yacht, should that even be a question?

Do not misunderstand me, this is not an argument in favor of a theocracy either. Dear Lord, that’s probably the last thing we need. It simply seems that if more than 80 percent of American citizens are Christians, as surveys have shown repeatedly, we should not have such a poverty gap between the rich and poor, and we should not force politicians to make decisions that appease fat cat campaign donors but send children into the streets to live.

Self-control

We are a nation of gluttons. I think that by now everyone’s familiar with the super-size phenomenon, and I can certainly remember the old Dr. Pepper commercials that said, “Give me more, more, more of that Dr. Pepper taste.” However, the problem is not confined to food. The need for “more, more, more” pervades all aspects of our society.

It is unusual to find an American that does not have dreams of driving a nice car, owning a big house and holding a high-paying job. Raised in the culture of the “American Dream,” it’s almost impossible to not dream of those things.

Desiring these things is not a bad thing in and of itself. It is when this desire overwhelms you and the want is never satisfied that it becomes problematic. There will always be houses that are bigger than yours, cars that are fancier than yours and jobs that are better than yours. If the American population would focus more on making sure that everyone had a house, job and means of transportation, then we might be closer to fulfilling the goals that Christ set before those that want to follow him.

Social responsiblity

In all of my political exploits, I cannot recall encountering a single person who does not think all children should have access to health care, or a person who seriously believes the physically disabled should be left out in the cold to fend for themselves. Indeed, it is unconscionable to even suggest it. Why then is the U.S. plagued by problems like this?

Mostly, we are too self-absorbed to even think about the problems that others face. Maybe this does not seem like a huge problem to you, but this truth should send up red flags for any Christian who has given the Bible even a cursory read-through. Remember that part about loving thy neighbor as thyself? I think that Jesus was pretty serious about that.

The bottom line is that for being a self-proclaimed Christian nation, we sorry at imitating Christ-at least the Christ depicted in the Gospels. Maybe we have come to a day and age where the Christ that we Christians actually follow is also known as Mr. Moneybags.

I will be the first to admit I am not doing a good job of following Christ’s example. For example, when I get my tax refund check, I am already halfway to the store to upgrade to a nicer iPod instead of donating the money to the United Way. One example from the life that I am familiar enough with (from leading one of my own) that I could indict it in the preceding paragraphs.

Talk is cheap. Ultimately, Christians are going to have to make a decision here: either we can start feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and sheltering the homeless, or we can petition the various researchers to add “Hypocrite” as a category under the heading “Religious Affiliation” in order to more accurately categorize ourselves in these surveys.

Stop Playing Church and Start Being The Church

I’m done… with the plastic smiles

I’m done… with Christians who walk into church like they are walking into a Country Club

I’m done… with Christians pretending they are perfect

I’m done… with churches saying “that’s the way we’ve always done it”

I’m done… with Christians who say healing services in these modern days are fake

I’m done… with Christians who avoid fasting

I’m done… with people who sit in church waiting for the pastor to “bless” them

I’m done… with those who think pre-schoolers are too small to learn about Jesus

I’m done… with Christians who mock pastors that cast out demons in the name of Jesus

I’m done… with Christians who complain about their church but have never given a dime to God’s kingdom

I’m done… with people who stand and cheer at football games on Friday nights but walk into church like they are at a funeral

I’m done… with Christians who can sing Madonna’s latest hit but can’t recite the 10 commandments

I’m done… with Christian fathers who push their sons to play football, but have never taught them to read the bible

I’m done… with Christians who go into deep debt to “keep up with the Jones’” who sit next to them in Sunday School

I’m done… with fake “Christian-ese” on men’s lips

I’m done… with deacons who complain about an unsaved teenager wearing a ball cap into the sanctuary

I’m done… with Sunday morning being the most segregated hour of the week

I’m done… with Christians who think they are better because their skin is white

I’m done… with Christians who think organs are holy and drums are not

I’m done… with Christians who say “I’m fine” when really their marriage is in shambles

I’m done… with people who think their past should be a secret, lest they be judged by the church

I’m done… with churches who think worship is for Sunday morning

I’m done… with Christians who have swallowed the lie that we can and should control how many children God gives to us

I’m done… with Christians who don’t believe in supernatural healing

I’m done… with Christians who don’t believe in the unseen warfare all around us

I’m done… with Christians who believe miracles only happened in the bible

I’m done… with Christians who call on God like He’s a cosmic genie in a bottle

I’m done… with American Christians who think somehow they have attained all they have

I’m done… with this “little religion box” that some Christians have put Jesus into

I’m done… with the limits that most churches put on God’s power

I’m truly done… no more limits… no more boundaries… no more plastic people… no more playing church… I’m done. Jesus did not die so His people could play church and be comfortable. How long will we “play church” while there are lost souls to win, hungry orphans to feed, hurting widows to love, lonely hearts to mend, and broken lives to heal?

There is no limit to God’s power displayed through His people if we could just stop playing church and start being the church!
