Chad:
Chad comes at the second place in the list of top ten poorest countries. Political instability and huge corruption are the reasons for the ill condition of this country. The GDP of this African country in 2012 is just about U.S. $19.6 billion.
The country is sometimes called as the "Dead Heart of Africa” because of its distance from the sea and largely desert climate. N'Djamena is the capital of this country and estimated population of this country in 2009 is 10,329,208. Most residents in this country are survived as herders and farmers.

Burundi:
Burundi finds the third place in the list of top ten poorest countries of the world in 2012. Burundi got independence from Belgium in 1962. Burundi has a very low GDP. The country has civil wars, poor access to education and high corruption rate. Further, the consequences of HIV/AIDS, lack of economic activity, poor legal system and its landlocked geography are the major reasons for its poor condition.
The population here is 10,216,190 as per 2011 estimations. Bujumbura is the capital of this country and Kirundi and French are official languages here.

Somalia:
Somalia, formerly known as Somali is at 6th place in the list poorest countries. It is located in the eastern most part of Africa and considered as one of the most violent and poorest states in the world. The Civil War took place in the country in 1991 and after the war there no central government control over most of the country’s territory. The 2 years of war and the unstable government created an informal economy mainly by remittance companies, livestock and telecommunications and this stands as a major check to its growth. Mogadishu is the capital of this country and the population is 10,085,638 as per 2012 estimates.
