3. Holocaust Memorial

Only a short walk distance south of the Brandenburg Gate is situated another impressive historical monument - the Holocaust Memorial. It is a symbolic memorial of the murdered Jews during the Holocaust period, when the Nazi regime was to blame for over 6 million Jewish victims. Nowadays, you can uniquely feel the dark atmosphere of this case by visiting the memorial in Berlin, which consists of 2,711 concrete slabs with variable heights and grey colours, and are spread over an area of 4.7 acres. The arrangement of these slabs seems more like a cemetery with long corridors, and just a walk between them is enough to understand the brutalism of that historic period of wars and inhumanity.

The Berlin Wall is one of the most quintessential things, which people remember when they think of Berlin. The Berlin Wall is also the most famous structure and symbol of the War, when the wall entirely separated West Berlin from East Berlin. In 1961, the wall was nearly 100 miles long, but nowadays you can find only a few remains from that spectacular and historical construction. Along the concrete wall were built a number of guard towers and border checkpoints, while plenty of facades were painted in graffiti.
