Darling-2- Audio Review

Cast: Kalaiyarasan, Maya,
Music:  Radhan
Producer: KE Gnanavel Raja
Direction: Sathish Chandrasekaran

Album Analysis:
Kaatril
Singers: Nikitha Gandhi
It starts off as a simple piano musical and slowly transcends into a spooky tune. The ascendancy of the chords in the background and the scale shifts add a whole lot of dimension to the track. The Gothic interludes aided by the bell arrangements make the entire track atmospheric and the mixing ticks off all the check boxes. Listen to this with the headphones on

 Machi Vaa Da Nee Dhaan
Singers: Ramee
After delivering couple of soulful melody tracks, ‘Machi Vaa Da’ marks the composer trying his hand at delivering a template fast paced EDM track. The tune pales in comparison with the rest of the songs in the album. The lyrics are a complete downer and the dubstep arrangements are overdone. S-k-i-p to the next!

Ni Sa Gari Sa
Singers: Naresh Iyer, Anweshaa Dutta
Probably the pick of the lot! ‘Ni Sa Gari Sa’ has quite a ‘Pookal Pookum’ hangover but is still fresh enough to ignore that mirage. The singers nail this track with their soulful rendition while the minimalistic instrumentation has a quasi Hindustani flavor. The title hook by the chorus portions take the featherbed from this tune.

Olarava Olarava
Singers: Varun Parandhaman, Muthamil, Ramee
‘Olarava Olarava’ starts off with quite some promise with a catchy hook and a prelude. However, the track loses its sting as it progresses and passes muster. The main hook of the pallavi is foot tapping catchy though with percussion arrangements. Sadly, the rest of the song doesn’t make it quiet there.

Darling 2 – Theme Music
Instrumental
Here we get our new gen version of the iconic ‘Naane Varuven’ tune with extensive dubstep and added spooky effects. More of a trailer-title material with less scope to be used in the rerecording! The theme music is predominantly made electro based with a heavy mix of dubstep and electronic synthezisers & vocals added in the mix as well.

On the whole, ‘Darling 2’ has a soundtrack that certainly won’t let down this franchise. The USP of the first movie of this franchise were the melodies and the funky ‘Vandha Mala’ track. However, ‘Darling 2’ is a different ball game and looks to rely on a soundtrack that aids the mood of the movie.
