Vetrivel audio review

Cast: Sasikumar, Miya George, Prabhu, Samuthirakani
Music: D.Imman
Direction: Vasantha Mani

Adiye Unna Paathida
Singers: Sathya Prakash, Vandana Srinivasan
Undoubtedly, the best song of the album! The song has a soulful tune and some typical Imman styled arrangements which doesn't hamper the tune by being jarring. The track is particularly in the same mould as the composer’s ‘Ovvondrai Thirudugirai’ (a terrific song from Jeeva)and Imman enriches it more by some elaborate string sections. The interludes sound grand and the singers totally own the song (especially, Vandana during the 1st charanam). A mandatory addition to the current playlist!
Athuva Ithuva
Singers: Aalaap Raju
Despite having a runtime of less than two minutes, ‘Athuva Ithuva’ is one of the better tracks of the album. The steady tune synchronises well with Aalap Raju’s rendition and the song ends up as a short, likeable melody. The accompanying electric guitar portions are noteworthy.

Aatam Pottu
Singers: Saicharan
‘Aatam Pottu’ bears the stamp of some of the recent Imman numbers. Although the tune is fast paced, there is a certain element of melodic nature in the tune that makes it likeable. Saicharan’s voice sounds slightly young to Sasikumar’s frame and it would be interesting to see how it works in the movie. The usage of folksy instruments in the interludes are a little too sharp to listen though. Nevertheless, a harmless listen.

Naatu Saalaiyile
Singers: Jeyamoorthi, VM Mahalingam, Anitha Venkat
After ‘Kaaviya Thalaivan’, ‘Uthama Villain’ & ‘Thara Thappatai’, Tamil cinema has started to consistently churn out narrative tracks that aid the story musically. ‘Naatu Saalaiyile’ falls under this type of folklore koothu-karagam fusion & depends largely on the narrative to fall in place. So, this track should get enhanced more with the visuals.

Onnapola Oruthana
Singers: Shreya Ghoshal
‘Onnapola Oruthana’ is an emotion driven female solo with Shreya Ghoshal shouldering the tune with a pellucid diction. The lyrics deserve a special appreciation too. The best part of the track has to be the preludes which are dominated by the earthy mridhangam followed by a lengthy chorus portion.
