Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’ scores a double century

Vijay commands a tremendous fan base in Kerala and all his movies would receive massive opening much like in Tamilnadu. Earlier this year ‘Jilla’ was screened in more than 200+ screens, and ‘Kaththi’ has replicated the same. The news has been confirmed by, Thameens, who acquired the distribution rights for Vijay – Samantha starrer is upbeat about the pre-release buzz, and said that the movie is all set to create new box office records.

Even during ‘Thalaivaa’s fiasco, many people crossed the border to watch the movie. ‘Jilla’s 200+ screen release had the X factor of Mohanlal, but this time around, Vijay is single-handedly storming the screens. The countdown for the Diwali has officially begun!

‘Kaththi’ will be the biggest ever in North America

Like how fans would go berserk to book tickets for the FDFS; the distributors across the world are trying their best to acquire the rights of ‘Kaththi’. The South Indian rights are already sold out, and Shibu Thameens, who brought the Kerala rights has said that the movie will feature in more than 200 screens all over the state which is on par with Kerala Superstars.

Now the big news is MM Media will jointly distribute the movie along with Lyca Productions, all over U.S.A & Canada in more than 250 cinema halls; a record number for any Tamil film till date. The distributors have confirmed the movie release for Diwali. The pictures of ‘Selfie Pulla’ got released this afternoon, and started doing its viral round within seconds. ‘Kaththi’ trailer release date is here…

One of the much awaited trailer of the year is around the corner. Yes! Ilayathalaptahi ‘Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’ is all set to storm the online medium this Saturday. If the reports are to be believed; the trailer will go to censor table this Friday, and the same will be released on Saturday evening. Since the Diwali is just 10 days away from this weekend, the makers decided to up the ante as soon as possible.

If ‘Thuppakka’ was a fierce gun loaded with sure shot bullets than ‘Kaththi’ should be a double barrel weapon considering the double action of Vijay. Samantha is paired opposite to Vijay for the first time and Sathish will provide the comic relief. Produced by Lyca, the movie is gearing up to be the biggest release of Vijay’s career.

'Kaththi'- All areas sold out!

Lyca Productions the producers of Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Kaththi, are very happy. They have been able to sell all areas at high price and is getting very attractive MG’s from Tamil Nadu theaters.

 After selling the rights of Kerala distribution to Thameens and Telugu rights to Tagore Madhu, Lyca have sold the Karnataka rights to Goldie Films – a company which distributes Bollywood movies in Karnataka. With that, Kaththi’s South Indian distribution trade is over.

Meanwhile, Kaththi’s Canada distributor – Ayngaran Canada has announced a record release of 20 screens in Canada, the highest for any South Indian movie there. In Malaysia also, Kaththi’s distributor is looking at 120 screens, another new record for any Indian movie.

The numbers are yet to come for Gulf, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Australia. At this rate, we can expect a new record opening in overseas markets.

Why Kaththi promotions are on low key?

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s AR Murgadoss produced Kaththi has been censored on Saturday (Oct 1) and has got a U certificate. It’s time to celebrate but producers Lyca Productions are not going to town about it.

Kaththi is confirmed for a Diwali release on October 22, but there are no high profile promotions or even a press meet. The trailer of the film is yet to be released, and everything regarding the film is being kept under the wraps.

The buzz in Kollywood is that the producers do not want to hype the film or promote it aggressively before release, as it can create unnecessary controversies.

The film has been in the eye of a storm as some Tamil groups have been saying that the producers are very close to the Sri Lankan president. The court has refused to interfere after the censor of the film.

Meanwhile the Tamil groups say that they will continue with their agitation if Lyca are the producers. They have no problem if the producers are changed to Vijay or AR Murgadoss.

Now it looks like the film and its makers will keep a low profile and release straight to theatres worldwide on October 22. Till then Kaththi will remain in the sheath.

‘Kaththi’ at the final lap

Last night, A.R. Murugadoss announced that ‘Kaththi’ got a clean U from the Censor Borad. As we had reported earlier, the movie was submitted to the CBFC on Friday, but our prediction for the trailer release did not become a reality.

The movie is all set to storm in 400+ screen in TN, and 200+ in Kerala, which is an undeclared Vijay’s kingdom. In U.S.A & Canada the movie will be screened in 250 screens while the UK will host the flick in 80 halls. By far ‘Kaththi’ has emerged as the biggest Tamil release in overseas and the trade source are expecting another blockbuster from A.R.M & Vijay.

Albeit the commercial elements, A.R. Murugadoss has always injected a social message in his movies, and ‘Kaththi’ will be no different. The protests from some Tamil groups and copyright claim over the story have subdued and the movie is all set to release for Diwali.

The highly anticipated trailer might release today or A.R. Murugadoss will release it 2 days before the release to keep the surprise quotient.

Anirudh’s Sacrifice For ‘Kaththi’

When there is a big opportunity at hand, it certainly means a good deal of sacrifice too. For music maker Anirudh, ‘Kaththi’ is his first big budget, with imposing star cast of Ilayathalapathy Vijay and impressive crew handled under AR Murugadoss’ direction. We hear that Anirudh is involved day and night on background score and music for ‘Kaththi’ in the past few months. He had recently Tweeted on the likes that ‘Kaththi’ is in the process of getting its sharp edge.

Not only has he forgone on sleep for the film, slogging night and day, but he has also given up the opportunity of working in a few smaller budget films, we hear. Although he is happy about the warm response for ‘Kaththi’ album, now he feels a heavy responsibility of good score for the film, on his shoulders. Yesterday, we reported that a few Tamil organizations are contemplating a protest against ‘Kaththi’ release and raised a concern whether the movie will have a smooth sailing to the cinema halls. Today, the Lyca production met the press and clarified that the movie will be released for Diwali all over the world in more than 1000+ screens.

The fans of Vijay started to express joy over this press release, and a few theatres in the suburbs have already started issuing early morning tickets for next Wednesday. The expectation for the movie is sky high, and the fans were waiting for the trailer since last Saturday. ‘Kaththi’ to premiere in Dubai on the eve of Diwali?

The producers of ‘Kaththi’ announced that, come what may the movie will release for Diwali all over the world, and the latest development is they are contemplating to have a world premiere at Dubai on the eve of Diwali. The ticket sales in Europe had started this morning, and by this weekend the theatres in TN will start the advance booking.

Early this morning, Anirudh confirmed that he is done with the BGM for the movie and the fans of Vijay are eagerly waiting to see the theatrical trailer since Satruday. 'Kaththi' team finally releases a song promo

In the last few days, Ilayathalapathy Vijay fans were getting anxious, as his Diwali release Kaththi’s trailer never came out. The director had promised the trailer after the film was censored, but still there was no sign of it.

The fans were venting their anger in social media, but Kaththi trailer was not released online by the makers. The grapevine had it that external sources were putting pressure to change the producers name in the credit titles. So the team held back the trailer to avoid unnecessary controversy.

Meanwhile, the Kaththi team announced that they were going to release a song video teaser to satisfy the fans yesterday. Earlier it was told, it was going to be 'Selfie Pulla' song that would be released around mid-night.

Then, the news came that it won’t be the case.

Later, they announced it would be 'Aathi' song’s video promo that would be launched. Finally, after mid-night, a 40-second 'Aathi' song promo sung by Anirudh - Vishal Dadlani was released.

‘Kaththi’ leads the Diwali race by some distance

The final count regards to the cinema halls for ‘Kaththi’ & ‘Poojai’ has come, and going by the data, Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’ is getting released in more than 1500 cinema halls all over the world, while ‘Poojai’ manages to find 1100 screens for the big day. This is the biggest ever release for both the stars and the first weekend is going to be very crucial for both the movies in terms of collections.

Apparently, the 1500 screens for ‘Kaththi’ is only for its Tamil version, and the Telugu version (dubbed) will be making its way for October 31st. The controversies just don’t seem to end for Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’ as the pro Tamil groups, and the former M.L.A and the founder of ‘Tamizhar Vazhvurimai Katchi’ leader, Panruti T. Velmurugan are quite firm in their stand against, Lyca Productions. They demand, Lyca to back off from the project, and asking the makers to release the movie under, A.R.M or Vijay’s name. They have clearly informed that they are not against the movie or the lead actor. What they all concerned is; they just want a production house which is having an alleged relationship with Sri Lankan Govt.
