3. Beijing, China (Golden Resources Shopping Mall)

Located near the Chinese capital, the Golden Resources Mall is built in the futuristic trend of Beijing's architecture. Surrounded by ambitious real estate projects, the whole region adopts an overall sleek appeal that has a very contemporary feel. The mall lies over 560 thousand sq. m and is about 1.5 times the size of the Mall of America. It has approximately one thousand stores, featuring prominent brands like DKNY and Nike. The building of the 6-floor construction took about twenty months to finish and, due to its general grand stature and rich array of shopping options, it has earned the moniker the Great Mall of China. Although the initial prognoses expected about 50,000 clients per day, the actual number fell far behind, which was assigned to the inappropriate location and the high prices of the merchandise sold. With a more aggressive advertising, it is hoped to attract more foreign presence and clientele over the near future.

9. King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA (King of Prussia Mall)

The King of Prussia Mall is the largest shopping center on the East Coast and claims the first spot in terms of retail area. It provides its guests with a compilation of about four hundred shops and a rich selection of eateries. Besides the typical brand names from both United States and abroad, the mall has some stores that cannot be located anywhere else in the region. The K.O.P., as the locals call it for short, has two distinctive areas - the Plaza and the Court, both of which contributes to the general magnificence and make the mall the preferred weekend hang-out place in Philadelphia.  The center has not only a commercial importance in the city lifestyle, but also bares a historical and cultural charge and at times lures more tourists than the local monuments and landmarks. A planned expansion of the total space reveals the ambition for claiming the title of the largest mall in terms of overall area that is currently held by the Mall of America.
